Its not cricket its minking

Recommended Posts

My mate works with a plumber on the local council whos into all sorts of hunting. This bloke says theres mink on the local river, so two of us go down for a look-see. We parked in a pub on the river and walked for about half a mile until we come to a cricket club. we had two pat/russell crosses that he uses for foxing with us, and the one went bloody mad. I thought they was on rats but then I saw it about 20 yards in front of the dogs. it was a big thing about the size of a cat but with short legs. They must have hunted it for about 10 mins before it went down a hole. Good digging got the mink, and itwasn't long before the dogs had it. Never been on mink before but have seen them when fishing so we carried on hoping it was going be a good day. There was nothing else until we reached a sewage works about 2 miles away when off they went again on a smaller one. Then the same dog that killed the first one, had this one on the run but my mate reckons that there was another one as well which ran into the sewage works and got away. We walked back the same way to the landy but never saw anything. Some old bloke with a spring spaniel at the cricket club said that a mink hunt works this river. Tough luck for them cos we are going back for some more.
