How Does It All Work?

Recommended Posts

I'm still waiting on one more landowner to reply about using a rimfire on his land and if he says yes i'll start filling out the form.

However, once i've filled out my form, and the referees have filled out theirs, who sends what first? Does it matter if i send mine before them or do they send their form first?

Also, do you get an FEO before getting the FAC granted, or does the FAC get granted and then you get an FEO?

Does the FEO go to the different bits of his land with me or does he go on his own to assess it and speak to the landowner?

What is the general order of these things and how does it all work??

Thanks

Just get your part of the form sent, referees have to send their parts independantly, it all ties up in the end.

Yes, the land has to be inspected for suitability, on some occasions you may have to meet up, also its a good idea to get a map maked with land boundries when you get your permission papers which can make life easier.

If that all clears you get the visit to inspect security etc,

Wait for licence to appear........ go blow your savings.

At least thats how it went for me!

I have just gone through all this myself so here goes.

First, you will need the landowner(s) to each sign a letter of consent that says you have his permission to use his land, his address and how big it is. This form may help- http://www.cambs.police.uk/information/for...ms/landauth.pdf

You will need to put these forms in with your application.

When you give the reference form to your referees, provide them with an SAE each and ask them to send them as soon as possible after they have completed them.

Once your forms are filled in then send them in, the police will wait for both references before starting your application.

Check with your referees if they have sent the forms in and then contact your Licensing Dept within a few days to see whether they have recieved everything.

Your Enquiry Officer will then contact you, hopefully fairly soon, depends on where you are. He will arrange to visit you to check your security, ask you a few questions on experience etc, explain any anomalies such as if you are likely to have a mentoring condition on your licence.

If your land hasnt been checked then he should make an appointment with you to go and visit it, you should accompany him to show you know the land, it is unlikely he will want to speak to the landowner.

Once the visit has taken place and if he is satisfied then the FEO will complete his report, speak to your references and submit your application back to the department, they will then deicde whether to grant you your certificate.

Thats about it, sounds fairly simple, can be a pain

Regards
