Dullahan 0
I recently notified a farm that I have visited for Pest Control for about five years that my colleague and myself would be happy to visit the Farm to contain pests during the sowing season again this year (really renewing our permissions). I received a letter back informing me that the Farmland has now been bought by an Investment company and that continued permission l cannot be renewed, only by the new owners. I telephoned the Farmer who told me that his position now was one of 'Caretaker' only until the new owners can organize the take over. He, himself was putting the farmhouse up for sale and retiring to Spain when it is sold. He did think that the Company had arrangements to carry out their own pest control themselves. This happened to us Last year as well. Are we going to see Investment companies buying up farms and going for High yield, High Profit crop production like GM crops for Bio-Fuels or like the Morman Church buying land to produce Lavender (10,000 acres). We already have the Energy Producer charging for Fishing Trout on Graffen Water in this area. Edited April 27, 2008 by Dullahan
