richie 1
took a mate out today for the first time, been promising him for ages & had a few spare hours this morning.... we got to our first hedge, it was about 5 metre thick & about 25 metres long, but it only had a small set at one end. put the longnet around then put both ferrets down & sat back, waiting & more waiting so i got the locator out & got them both staying still at 1.5ft, so i marked the area. after another 10 minutes they surfaced so i boxed them up. i started digging down where i marked, stones & lumps of concrete ! just my luck, but after a bit of elbow grease shifting them i broke through & found a bunny in a stop end with his arse towards me, i managed to get him out after a bit of a struggle, so only one accounted there, thought they would be more. moved onto our next place which was a private garden, the lady said she has about 10 baby rabbits on the lawn each morning. this garden has a seperate lawn that is raised about a meter from the main lawn held in by a brick wall. as we were standing there my mate said were been watched ! i turned around & saw these pair of eyes looking at us. we managed to get 3 youngens from this place with a load of screams from underground. in goes squeek ! the 3 bagged. after this we hit a different farm & managed another 5 & two slipping through the net. so 9 in total, not bad for a morning.. richie 1
i had to look twice when i saw it looking at us, couldnt believe my eyes. theyve been running in & out of there for years, you can see the scratch & claw marks.. i dont think she`ll be seeing many bunnies on her lawn tomorrow. that looks like a nice plot you went to today.... least you got out today pat, too warm to sit indoors. rich Quote Link to post
