Recommended Posts

this might seem a daft question but having never hunted and only being able to give the ferrets butchers rabbits, when you give the ferrets fresh kill is there any part that has to be removed first or do you feed it as it is? im asking this as i have a rabbit in the freezer and dont want to do it wrong

Then the fog came in with the tide.

Within ten minutes it was "pea soup".

We had few good bolts and catches but the ferrets were having to really work them hard.

Some the Rabbits were unbelievably stubburn, in that the dogs where marking that rabbits were near to the mouth of the hole so was reaching in expecting to find a dead rabbit lying just inside of the whole onlt to put my hand on the head of a grunting rabbits heads which simple refused to move. It took considerable effect to pull them out with their feet dug into the ground and backs pushed against the roof of the tunnel, nothing really unusual about that, expect in these instances there was not a feerret at the back of them, there was'nt a ferret near them. It gives you an idea as to what the ferrets are up against at this time of year.

Also interesting to note the lack young here due the land being left in a ploughed state all winter compared to the other day where there was permanent pasture over the other side of the boundry fence and there loads of young there.

Final Bag was 15 adult rabbits and nest of young.
