arkanovi 0
Hi all, I'm new to the forum! I've had a DB4 underlever for a year now, and I want to move onto something else, my spending limit is going to be £150. What spring would you recommend for hunting? I live in bristol so will most likely be buying from New avon Arms ( if any of you have any comments on that shop would be most welcome) Atm I'm trying to decide between a BSA Comet, Edgar brothers model 60 or a cometa 300. Which of those 3 would you recommend? they've all been stated as about 11.5ftlb.] Thanks for any info! Quote Link to post
arkanovi 0
hmm, actually I might save up for a Air arms S200. Are they good for hunting at 20-30 yards with .22? Quote Link to post
Dullahan 0
hmm, actually I might save up for a Air arms S200. Are they good for hunting at 20-30 yards with .22? I actually use a S200 Air Arms. I find them exellent at 35 yards. A little weighty. But what you have to consider with all precharged air guns is that although you have about seventy shots (22) you have to consider that you need to include the charging set and bottle in calculations, and possibly a scope so overall you have to be prepared to find £500 for new. The best thing you can do is to log on to Gun Trader. I have seen good full kits on there BSA and Webley. Quote Link to post
Muntjac Man 0
Can't say about the S200, but I use an Air Arms S410 for rabbiting, and compared to a springer it's absolutely awesome. No recoil, and repeatability to die for (apologies for the pun!). I made up an improvised tripod to rest the fore-end on, from one of those 3 legged folding stools. Provided you know the trajectory characteristic, with a scope, it drops rabbits with head shots every time at 35 yards. Buying a pre-charge was the best thing I ever did for hunting rabbits with an air rifle. And that comes from someone who also uses .22rimfire for rabbits! I charge mine with a stirrup pump, not from a bottle. Sincerely suggest you think seriously about saving up a bit longer - I don't think you'll regret it. Quote Link to post
perlin 0
Good advice from all the above. PCP is more user friendly , and you will need a bottle or pump.... If you have to go the springer route why not try second hand ? Good bargains to be had at www.airgunbbs.com John Quote Link to post
arkanovi 0
OK guys I'm gonna go with the S200, thanks for the advice =) I actually have a 3-9x40 mil-dot scope which I love the look of and think it'll deffinately complement the s200. I have taken into account the fact i need to buy a pump, doesnt bother me, I'll be happy getting the rifle, then waiting a few weeks to buy the pump, its a big improvement of having to reload on a underlever thats for sure! What price can I expect for a S200 second-hand ( no acessories) ? And is it legal for them to deliver to your door? I heard the new ( stupid) airgun law doesnt affect second-hand rifles from non-business sellers? Quote Link to post
