leepy1 0
I realise it is the 'modern' way but I really cannot understand why anyone would need a giant heavy battery pack or a huge multi-million candlepower lamp that will illuminate the next county I doubt anyone but a rank amateur should be attempting rifle shots of greater than 250 yards at foxes etc or expecting a running dog to 'course' two fields away without following on foot yourself. I use a small 200,000 CP light and tiny 12 bore cartridge box sized battery pack which is more than adequate, has a low battery drain and does not weigh me down. OTC Each to there own mate. You like micky mouse lamps. I like big f*ck off lamps dose it really matter Quote Link to post
Guest JohnGalway
OTC, I mostly use 18amp batteries, just today sent off for a 20 amp. Reason I use these batteries is 90% of my lamping is done on foot in very difficult and very open ground. Not in a comfy 4x4 not saying you do this) and not near anywhere I can have a second battery kept to swop over. I need the higher amp batteries so I can cover that ground, walk in and out, and have the juice left to power my 50W bulb to shoot the fox when the oppertunity arises 50W bulb does me at the moment as I'm only doing lamb calls now, however, during the late Autumn and through the Winter I sometimes need a higher wattage bulb to actually see the fox I'm shooting at. A lot of the ground I cover is on commonages so I have to deal with tall dead mountain grasses, which a fox will blend into exceptionally well. If the small light and battery works for you then fair play, I need to keep my options open though depending on the job I have to do and the time of year. Quote Link to post
