woodchip 2
Ive been asked by the farmer whos land i shoot on to cull the magpies and crows . there mainly on a 10 acre field with woodland at the bottom , im thinking of setting up a few decoys and splitting a bunnie open and shooting them as they land?? and hiding in the woods. I know a larsen trap would be idea but its not possible . so any tips would be great thanks Edited April 13, 2008 by woodchip Quote Link to post
Guest JohnGalway
Try the bunny first without the decoys, you can use them later on after you've shot a few. Plenty of cammo and stay still in a very well hidden position. Maggies have very sharp eyesight. One thing I've seen happen a few times is if you shoot a hoodie while the maggies are around they'll drop in to investigate him Quote Link to post
Rolfe 2
Yes i agree with John..........if you can't use a Larsen then build a well concealed hide, wear cammo gear and sit very still. incomming birds will spot any movement a mile off. A good tip is to get yourself in position before first light and wait to ambush the birds as they leave the roost looking for carrion. Often a pigeon laid breast uppermost with plenty of loose feathers scattered about, will prove more of a draw than a rabbit.......far more visible. Rolfe. Quote Link to post
