Some stink

Hi folks,

Lovely topic I know, no pictures you be happy to hear, and even happier that smell-o-vision ain't been invented yet! The University student who I, and others, were giving foxes to called out to me tonight. He brought along some stomach contents from a fox or foxes (not entirely sure if it was one or more) from last year which had been frozen (though some may have been slightly aged before they met the freezer! He wanted to know if the wool inside belonged to lambs or ewes. So he showed me four samples. The first two were most definately new lambs, really short, fine curly wool, no question about it in the least. The other two I think, and told him so, that I made a good guesstimate of being older lambs as the wool wasn't as coarse as you'd find on a hogget or ewe. Told him to ask other farmers for their advice if he got the oppertunity but I don't think I got it wrong on the last two. He's going to send me out more details on other stomach contents and dates of foxes donated so hopefully I'll be able to find out which ones were eating our lambs last year  Won't make much difference now but it'll be nice to know.

The fecking smell was unreal
