jultaylor1972 2
After last weeks near disaster whilst out ferreting and almost losing one of my mark3 collars due to it slipping off my ferrets neck I decided to get some leather ones instead. I asked DDD off here to see what he could do and he made me some brilliant replacement collars. Im much more confident about using them now and I bet longdogrunner is pleased too as he had to dig for 3 hours to get my lost collar last week Quote Link to post

bullsmilk 2
i dunno mate i like that little bit of give. i do my collers up pritty tight and i cant pull them off over there heads( now iv learned hour digs to just a collar arnt good) i like to think if my fert got in a situation where it got caught up id rather the coller came off after a struggle than strangle me workers . i think somthing thinner not unlike a lurcher coller would be the way forward Quote Link to post
DDD 4
Hi there, not sure what you mean by the lurcher collar being thinner??? These collars I have made are out of leather - think about the properties of leather - it has an elastic tension to it, similar to human skin. If in the worst case that your ferret got stuck, I think that these collars will have enough give in them to allow it to come off. I have seen the mk1 leather collars & they look like bloomin terrier collars! Ask Julia how they are after she works hers. I must admit it was one of my concerns when making but there is a bit of give in them, that said you have to put a bit of effort into it. Anyhoo, must go, finishing a greyhound collar off! Nikey hit the nail on the head when he said try both then you'll know the difference I used to think that the original MK3 collars were fine until I nearly lost one last week and believe me - I had it fastened so tight I was worried it was 'too' tight for my jill Quote Link to post
