rad filters

i put a post up not long back asking how many people use filter when lamping a fair few did so i ordered one from he arthur carter website and it came yesterday. i was just wondering when lamping with a filter if it becomes a long run is the filter then taking off etc a few bits of advice please

If you use the filter for lamping then i would leave it on personally.........that said i prefer to have my dimmer switch turned down low.........and then increase it should it be a long run.

? are you talking about when the dog is running keeping the filter on? or spotting with the filter on? If running, and the dogs never lamped with a filter I would use it to get as near as you can and then take it of before the rabbit moves. later the dog will get used to the filter and start spotting the rabbits with it on, then i slip the dog on the rabbit and take the filter off only when the dog get up to the rabbit or the rabbit moves. I never run the rabbits with the filter on or you may as well have a lower powered lamp, and with a lower powered lamp or filter on your dogs in more danger of hitting something

And i only use a filter in places the rabbits are lamp shy as the rabbits will start running at the first sign of the red light in the end same as with the white light, so your better of using the lamp on its own and using the filter later when the rabbits start getting lamp shy.
