Guest buster321c
Hiya just lookin for a bit of advise, i wanna get an air rifle mainly for plinking in the garden but also if i can get a rat or two and throw it to me staffy i might get her interested in a bit of ratting . So my question is , what is the best type of all round gun for plinking and also rats maybe a bit bigger stuff i could get thats reasonably cheap and good allround . Also (airgun ) is .22 or .177 better ? can i just walk round the canal with one of these or do i need permission ? any advise would be great as i am a complete novice at this , cheers Quote Link to post
Little Butch 16
I dont know much about this but i think you would need permission to shoot it somewhere. The general thing is that .22 are for hunting and .177 are for target practise but both could be used for hunting with no trouble. The .22 is a heavier pellet which doesnt fly as fast as a .177 but delivers more force when it hits the prey as opposed to a .177 which because its smaller can sometimes fly straight through the prey without delivering its full force I think thats right lol Leon Quote Link to post
Opal 0
First of all Buster, bit of advice mate for God's sake don't go near any canal with a gun, any gun. Have a search on the site for BSA Meteor, you can get one cheap and shoot all the rats yer want, I did, crackin' springer, my son has it now and still its grabbin' the rats. You need permission to shoot on land outside yer own garden and when shooting in yer garden, make sure the neighbours know about it or you'll be gettin' plent of visits from the police. Good luck in yer search. Quote Link to post
