mantha 2
all rounder hopfully does that include bushing rabbits? Ive noticed alot of people on this site dont believe that digging terriers should be used for this job, what do you think? Quote Link to post
young1982 1
Well mate it's like this; If you read anything on the background of terriers it always says that they were originally bred/used to control all types of vermin from small rodents all the way up to foxes & badgers. We all know that this forum is full of hardcore boys (and girls) that only use their dogs for foxes and think this is the only way, that’s fine everybody is entitled to their own opinion who are we to tell anybody how they should use their dogs. Respect must be given to them for the work they do because without them we wouldn’t have the choice we do when picking good WORKING stock . But on the same hand they must respect that not everyone what’s to take the same path they did, if people what to use their dogs for ratting, bushing rabbits or whatever leave them to it and stop bitching at them all the time. It’s not like the dogs are missing out terriers love to hunt anything, if they didn’t they wouldn’t do it. Quote Link to post

miller 18
NICE LOOKING DOG YOU GOT THERE MATE,IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO GOES RATTING I WOULD ASK IF YOU COULD TAG ALONG AND LET YOUR DOG SEE HOW THE OTHER DOGS WORK AND IT WILL JOIN IN WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT. I KNOW IT CAN BE HARD TO FIND ANYONE TO LET YOU GO WITH THEM AS WHEN I JOINED THIS SITE I ASKED THAT QUESTION AND GOT VERY LITTLE RESPONSE. THE BEST PEOPLE I FOUND TO ASK WAS GAME KEEPERS WHO THEN PUT ME IN TOUCH WITH THE DOG MEN WHO WORKED ON THIER SHOOTS, Quote Link to post

Sorry mate after reading that back it does sound like I was directing that comment at you (i'm not) What i'm getting at is so many people tell others how they should be working their dogs, when at the end of the day it's down to the owner and the job that needs doing. welshhound2 20
just to set the record straight mantha aint nowt wrong with a bit of bushing/ratting with the pup teaches them how to use theyre nose, hunt up,and mark.better than cageing a rat and letting them have a mooch, dnt mean they wont make the grade in the ground mate, all ours work with a gun pack and do well Quote Link to post
