out side on a chain they get off for a few hrs a day and when its feeding time they go back on i belive it gets them used to long drives in the ute were they dont have much room and need to sit down and stay quiet also when im camping to sit tied to the FWD or occasionaly under the tree in the weather aswell as ethier me or a family member wuold proberly feed them to much snacks and pet them to much inside also outside on a chain they sh*t in one place and its easy to clean i live in the suburbs so dont allow them to make any noise or smell and we dont really have dog thieves here lucky no one knows wtf a lurcher is or worth but then agian my dogs do get very angry and vocal if somone sneaks up on them or me at night

IMO dogs belong outside. That said, I have been a victim of dog theft and its not a pleasant experience. Ive got an alarm on my kennels, CCTV and they are all padlocked at night and all are tattooed and chipped but I still dont feel 100% safe so I bring bitches indoors to pup and keep them in until the pups are 2-3 weeks old and I keep my favorite old dog indoors in a crate. He has a wee touch of arthritis so it helps him being in the warm, and you can found a kennel on one good dog so I say to myself if by some great misfortune it ever happened again :censored: then at least I would have my old dog to start a line again with, most of my current dogs are related to him and I know he can produce the goods. Its sad to do things that way as in an ideal world I would keep all of them outside, but thats my logic and I have always thought prevention is better than cure. I just feel so lucky that I chose to take my old dog lamping because if I had stayed home that night I could either have ended up with no dogs at all, or in jail for murder :censored::yes:

My house is on a 1100sqm block so the dogs have free range of that and a garage down the back. I have a dog pen that is used infrequently- dog has pups or have a dog here while bitch is in season.

I could imagine their faces if I told them they would be living on a chain from now on!! Spoilt bitches. LOL Have no problems tying them up when we go away with them or on the ute.

And when there has been too much drinking at night in this house (us) the dogs usually end up on the couch!! OTher than that I 'generally' dont have them inside.
