RFD Network Goes Live

Just a quick post to let everyone know that the RFD Network is now online. Please spread the word so we can keep the UK airgun mail order business alive. This is a completely legal solution to the VCR Bill banning mail ordering of air weapons and accessories.

The website is brand new and will be updated constantly.

Text from the website below.

With effect from 1st October 2007 mail order of air weapons and certain accessories will be banned in the UK. However there is hope to keep the business alive. The RDF Network is a network of registered firearms dealers in all parts of the UK who are happy for you to have your mail order items sent to them for you to collect. For this project to work we need as many RFD's to register with us so their names and contact details can be added to this website.

This is a FREE service and will benefit everyone in the UK airgun industry.

Thank you

Jon

Below is a draught letter that we will be sending to every RFD in the UK.

As you will be aware the new VCR Bill comes into force on 1st October 2007.

Many Registered Firearms Dealers are being adversely affected by the ‘Face to Face Sales’ condition of the VCR Bill meaning that many mail order sales of air rifles, air pistols and accessories are lost threatening the livelihoods of many legitimate dealers.

We are proposing to set up a ‘Dealer Network’ whereby dealers all over the country agree to help out others by accepting transfer of stock from other RFD’s for onward face to face transfer to the customer at an agreed nominal fee (payable by the customer at collection). This agreed fee to be possibly £5 - £10. The customer would have already paid the original outlet for the goods so there is very little likelihood of a ‘no show’ at your premises, this would also generate customers entering your premises that would possibly not have done so before.

If this is to work we will need to get at least one RFD in each county. We will not be limiting the amount of RFD’s registered on the network and contact details will be available for all to see.

Listing your business as part of the network will require you to accept registered goods from other dealers and suppliers but this also allows you to use other dealers to take delivery of your stock for a customer out of your area.

A listing on the website is free to registered firearms dealers. Paid advertising will become available at a later date.

If you would be interested in joining us please, in the first instance, email your interest to register@rfdnetwork.co.uk Please ensure that you include your RFD number in all correspondence.

Thanks

Jon
