Katsdad 31
Went out again today butarabbit and the ferrets looked at the holes we did last week, tried out my locator and collar on my Jill put it on her and down the hole she went came out a different hole so no bunnys down there, back in she went came out first hole again minus collar(bollocks)spent the next 45 mins digging trying to find the f ing thing(at £70each I ain't leaving it down there) It was comical there was us using the locators trying to find it mine was saying it was just below my feet toms was saying it was just below his feet about 20ft from my position so were both sweeping the area trying to pin point it me saying it was below me Tom saying no it was closer to him then he realises that his collar is in his jacket pocket still turned on so he was picking up his collar believing it was mine doh. Anyways after a bit of digging we found it where my locator said it was. We then moved to another spot netted up put both ferrets in(this time with tight collars )toms ferret was a bit reluctant to go looking but my gill bolted one in front of me then one in front of Tom which got past the net and made good his escape as Tom was asleep(he blamed the net layer until he remembered it was him )she then went back in and another rabbit appeared at toms feet this time he managed to get hold of it but my Jill had hold of the bunnys arse and was refusing to let go,Tom only just beat her We moved again netted up a larger warren and some holes we couldn't get to as they were under a huge bramble bush but we put the ferrets in and bugger me the first rabbit shot out of one of the holes we couldn't reach so another one lost then then sod me another one shoots out under toms feet and away to freedom (going to have to find some reliable help ). Oh well you win some you lose some just one of those days Roll on next week Quote Link to post

bunny tickler 876
every day is a learning curve ,ok if they get away dont worry you have learned to check & double check for bolt holes , then learn to trust your ferrets , a good worker wont go into a burry if theres nothing at home , but ,try them in different holes before you move on . ,each and every one here has made mistakes ,after 40 yrs i still miss the odd hole we all do , also dont think long nets are the be all and end all to rabbiting a well set stop net will catch just as many ..keep learning it will all come good .the greatest thing is silence ,setting nets entering ferrets ..quietly does it ,,cheers Quote Link to post
