timc20xe 73
How do you go about deactivating a shotgun ? Can I do the work my self and then send it off to the proof house ? How do I send it to the proof house ? And what are the costs ? Thanks Quote Link to post
CharlieT 32
I'm not sure what the current price is but it's not expensive. Easiest way to get it to the PH is to take it yourself or get your local RFD to send it for you. As far as deactivation is concerned, have a read of this, it's all detailed ...........https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/117802/deactivation-of-firearms-2010.pdf Quote Link to post
timc20xe 73
Cheers for that , I will have to email the proof house and get a price , the Birmingham ph website is a load of shite and can't even find one for the London one Quote Link to post

shotgun12 11
if you do it your self, have you got to send it to them for them to check it. Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Yes shotgun, before you can own it "off ticket" you'll need a cert from the proof house stating that it has been de-activated to the specified standards. You can do the work yourself, if you have the tools and the knowhow. Of course, until it has been to the proof house it still needs to be on a SGC (or some other authorisation to hold) Quote Link to post
