Cheers for that, I enjoyed that a decent read, was out ourselfs last night trying to get a mates young dog dog switched on, turned into a half decent night for the youngster just up to the young dog now to keep picking them up..

That's great, nothing beats watching a young dog click to what he's meant to do, makes all the work worth while.

Cheers guys, much appreciated. He's off till Sunday morning, hope to give you a write up of the day, all going well.

It ended up a great night for me, even tho I never had a mutt out, watching a mate whilst his young dog started getting them in the bag was rewarding to say the least, they I don't know who was happiest lol his young dog for finally putting it altogether, him watching his young dog and realising all his hard work an effort had paid off, or me for getting to watch him and his dog becoming a team and really enjoying the night... sad I know but I still get the same buzz I did with my 1st dog..lol

Ha, it's not sad, what am about to say is sad ha. That first night when your taking them out for the first time, not knowing how its going to turn out. Is the dog going to just look at the rabbit, yap into the distance after it, not pay attention to the beam, turn instantly deaf, a million things run through your mind before you even get there. To see it all work as it should with only minor teething problems is like watching a baby take his first step lol. I honestly think you get a better buzz watching someone else go through the emotional roller coaster like you did than if it was your dog lol. It's a fantastic feeling and like you say, it never leaves you no matter how many times you see it. I love the surprise a young dog gets when he goes ferreting for the first time and he sees a rabbit explode for the first time. The excitement it creates and the concentration from then on in till his final days, great watching them.
