Guest quixflash
Hi, I'm new to this forum and to lamping so need a bit of advice. My dog is going great in all aspects ie running down the beam, ignoring stock and even cats, full of enthusiasm, speed and turns on a postage stamp but she isn't in any rush to pic up the rabbits. She sometimes lets them run through her legs he off again. Is this just because she ejoys the chasing too much? We have no other dog for her to learn from and we also are not seeing many rabbits at all when out so she is not having the pracice. She is just turned 2 but has only been lamping for a couple of months. Do you all think she wil get better with practice? Has anyone got any advice? What is a girl to do?! Quote Link to post
martin 332
I'm sure he will get the hang of it given time, and, try your hardest to get some more permission, and, put some more rabbits in front of him.The more he sees and runs, the more he will get used to it.Do you know anyone that runs dogs at all, because maybe if you take him out and let him watch another dog do it properly he should get the hang of it.All the best with him. No I don't know of anyone here in NZ who goes out lamping. They go spotlighting with guns but they rarely put dogs after rabbits/hares/possum only pigs. They think I am nuts running my dog, which is why its hard to get permission. Wish I did know someone as she'd really benefit from an experienced dog. Quote Link to post
