I got home from work this morning and did the usual big walk with my terriers, this time I took them to the beach. After about 20 minutes I saw what appeared to be another Patterdale running towards me. When she got to us she stole the ball :laugh: and ran off with it, closely followed by a lad of about 25 years old. I commented on what a lovely red Patterdale she was and he said "I knew it! I was told she was a lakeland by the woman I bought her off" He then went on to say, he'd only had her 3 weeks and he was trying to get her used to other dogs as she had been a christmas present for this womans daughter :censored::censored: last year and that the poor little thing had never been for a walk!! :icon_eek::icon_eek::wallbash: He had seen an advert in a local paper for a nine month old lakeland and went and bought her for £50! It just got me thinking, there seems to be a rise in people wanting patterdales to keep them as pets, but ffs how stupid do you have to be to buy a dog for your teenage daughter for christmas, and what pratt would sell a patterdale under those circumstances! It just goes to show that there are so many money grabbing people only too willing to take money off people no matter what! :censored: The lad who has her now wants to work her as he says he's been looking on the internet about patterdales and feels that it will be the best thing for her. He was really canny and asked loads of sensible questions about the breed and where to take her to work etc. Thank god she got to a decent home with a lad with some common sense eh! :)

Some people, eh? I had to see a couple the other day who bought 2 JRT pups..both male..now 9m old and tearing lumps out of each other, apparently she wanted 2 'cuddly' pups who would sit on her lap and she bought the two pups as she 'liked their colours' :icon_eek: She had NO idea what JRTs were like, the breeder must have been laughing all the way to the bank as she paid £600 for the two..she looked completely blank when i explained that Terriers are used for working and have high energy needs..neither of the pups have EVER been off the lead..I despair sometimes.. We end up destroying young dogs who eventually through sheer frustration end up biting..these same people stand and weep and wail at the table, but if they chuffing well read up on the breed or got off their fat :censored: and actually put some effort into training and walking the dogs they wouldnt be in this position. Drives me bloody mad.
