Walk tonight - almost perfect

Recommended Posts

Took my three out for a wander tonight along an old disused railway line that's now used as a path for walkers etc.

As we were heading for home, with a cracking sunset lighting our way - about 1 1/2 miles from the village, the deerhound x springs a cracking roe buck, it paused for a second then legged it over the fence into a field of deep grass - about two feet tall.

All three dogs were off the leads and set off too (obviously I tried to call them back, but either they didn't hear me or they thought all th shouting was me cheering them on - as if :whistling: )

Anyway, they had no chncce of catching it in the undergrowth, so eventually came back.

As we picked up where we left off, a few minutes later I watched a barn owl hunting a field next to the path. The afterglow of twilight making it's white underside glow ominously. She was a bit luckier than I, and caught a small mouse or vole.

As we got to the edge of the village, I saw a couple of bats chasing invisible insects near some trees.

What a crackin' end to the day.

I love walks like that..makes you happy to be alive type walks! I stood and watched 2 Fox cubs playing on the golf couse the other night, lovely to see, they were totally engrossed in their game, the mother obviously sensed me close by and a quick bark from her and they disappeared. Glad you had a good walk.
