I like what I call tiger worms on the trot with light gear in the river.

 

O n the res as allready stated cockle can be killer, but on some water not permtted...however

Try some power bait kid it's ruthless banned on most places cos u catch all the time on it or inject ur worms with air and float it down river

What about them?

cockles, muscles and prawns are all good baits for trout in the right conditions....

I've used prawn for salmon, whole prawn dyed purple. Used prawn and mussel sea fishing, caught cod, collies, pollok and mackerel with them. Never thought of using cockles especially for trout. Do you need to give them a good rinse if its pickled ones then? Gonna give them a go lol, cheers for that lads.
