True. Look at the old, 'Traditional' gun cases ~ as opposed to slip covers. They were made of wood and covered in a skin of leather. 'Always' made to take a broken down gun - or pair. I guess that was to make them more managable as part of ones normal luggage on a train or what ever?

Thus, I'm sure, they'll still produce the modern counterparts, in aluminium or even rigid plastic? But, as JohnB so rightly implies; Who the f*ck wants to go to that sort of bother? Putting ye gun back together again in possibly inclemant weather? Why???

These days most shooters will turn up in a 4x4 land cruiser. Space to stow ye fully assembled shot gun is no longer an issue. Who'd bother messing around like that? Now it'd be safe to case to motor to hand.

I'd leave that one odd guy to pursue his broken down gun case where he will, mate. I honestly couldn't see ye shifting enough of them to make it worth ye bothering about
