swag 54
As you'll be able to see from my profile I'm a terrier kinda a guy, but have over the past two years been doing a lot more shooting so now I'm in the market for a gun dog. As the terriers are my first passion I'd be looking to get a part or full trained dog, nothing special just something that would retrieve a clipped pigeon and do a couple a three days beating a season, what breed would you advise ( can't believe I just said that lol) I'm thinking lab as a spaniel would need a bit more work than I would offer I think and would be a bit steadier while pigeon shooting. When the ads say part trained what level would that be? And the same for full trained. Oh and has any one had experience taking on an older dog that say wouldn't be coping with a full seasons picking up but would be happy taking a stroll with me? Cheers for any help or advise given Quote Link to post
deck 35
yea a lab would do you mate if its only picking up your going to be doing, but if your going to go into rough shooting a spanial might be a better bet,im the same as you have hunted terriers and lurchers all my life still do but have always fancied a spanial having shot over a good few of them.
