jasper65 6
I picked up a Beretta silver pigeon got it home but was disipointed with the stock compared to the old 687 Beretta I had before, for some reason they fitted the new Berettas with Turkish walnut stocks compared to the old french walnut on my old gun. I set about stripping it and vouched for a oil finish but needed a stain that would make the grains stand out on what looked a pretty blank stock. I finally vouched for some Alkanet oil and went about painting it on the stock, I nearly passed out when the first coat turned out a reddy Pink , but after further coats it got richer and darker and the grains blacker and blacker. when I reached the colour I liked I set about giving it a oil finish <Linseed> and this was the result below, its a old crap picture but trust me the gun looks lovely up close. all I can say is if you want a stock resembling somew of the old English Gunstocks with a deep red tinit and near black grains then the Alkanet oil did it for me, found some in the link below if its any use ...
