freelance 448
With all the recent popularity of the deerhound hybrids, do any of the older hands remember this line of dogs and is there any of this blood still about. A local lad to me had one in the mid 90,s and i think it was a good honest grafter . I also enjoyed Toms articles in the early EDRD . Again in the 90,s i used to arrange a weeks hunting holiday up in Scotland every season for me and a few friends and the runners, one of the lads who used to come with us had a trip out with him, i think it was a little madcap from what i recall. I never met him but he came over as a bit of a character in his articles and they always made me chuckle, and i always looked forward to reading them. On a different note, on one particular foray up there we called in and met the Caithness lurcherman Tommy Mcfee. At that time he had ceased keeping the lurchers and was into sheepdogs nether the less he made us most welcome and gave us a good atfernoon chatting on the runners, real nice man who had caught a lot of gear and seemed a true gent. And he also put on two some spots while we was up there for a gallop. So wondered if any of you lads had ever owned a Riley blooded deerhound cross and what was they like and were did the bloodlines come from ? Atb Freelance Quote Link to post
