Ron Weasley 83
Hey all, haven't been to this site for a while- been so busy with work and stuff. Sadly, I haven't really had a chance to get out ferretting for a while either. Not since December I don't think! Anyway, had a few hours spare this afternoon, so thought I'd go for a quick mooch- if for no other reason than to give the new truck a quick spin off road! Took my dad with me too, as he had nothing better to do. Went down to the farm in the village where I have permission- dad swears that when he's been out walking the dogs that a particular track is heaving with rabbits. So we had a look, loads of holes! Netted up, but the ferrets didn't seem interested. Moved on to a site I took about 6 or 7 out of earlier in the season. Entered my hob and one of my poley jills. Both stayed underground for a while, but no action. Time was getting on, so about 40 minutes later, when the jill reappeared, we played safe, and put her back in her box. 10 minutes later, no sign of the hob, so quick sweep with the locator and we get a reading 3 feet down. When I'd dug 18 inches, I switched on the locator, and found that the ferret had moved. Not far though, just a bit to the right, now 4ft down. Nice easy dig it was too, down to a big old buck rabbit. Only one for my troubles, but it was nice to finish the season in the sunshine, and not come home empty handed! Quote Link to post
