ianh 83
sounds like you need to get the recall sorted first mate, get that up to scratch all the time then try with the bunnies. do you take her out alone? or is there other dogs present? could be worried that the other dog might take her catch off her. mine was like this and it got better when we started lamping at 12 months, to begin with he would run off with it, if they do, lamp off walk away back to car or whatever giving the recall command, end the fun so to speak. eventually when she comes back with or without catch, start lamping again(try find the catch first), you need to get her to understand that the quicker she brings that back the quicker she can go and catch another, thats what she wants ultimately, and eventually the penny will drop, might take a good few nights but it will happen eventually. mine now runs back drops rabbit at feet and turns round waiting for lamp to come on again (well most of the time, but we all have bad days lol). most people say to lamp with an experienced dog to bring them on, mine knew the crack and the other dog made the recall harder so we did best on our own. but now he is fine as long as the other dog is on a slip and not running free Edited August 23, 2011 by ianh Quote Link to post

Ive skinned the bunnies shes got and put the skin round a tennies ball heard this wil help retrive yeah its meant to, my dog was ok with retrieving balls sticks etc up to about 8 month, now he will do it once or twice but not after that, i think he thinks 'if you want it so much why do you keep throwing the damn thing away' some dogs just dont seem to be bothered by things like this, whereas some dogs (collies for instance) will play ball all day long and not get bored, they are basically bred to serve you all day long and need that constant stimulation but mine always retreives bunnies to me straight away, he knows the difference between play and work clearly. good luck mate Quote Link to post
