Hi folks,

Mods if this is in the wrong section feel free to move it to a better home.

On my way home today I spotted what I can only guess was a mink on a bridge. I don't know an awful lot about mink but I thought they were nocturnal? I've seen them in photographs online and in books and I'm fairly sure it was minky alright. Was delighted to see it, already thinking on how to catch it! :D

Mink are most certainly active in daylight, John. As are all mustalids.

Oddly enough, I've heard it said that weasles don't hunt at night though, where as stoats do? Old 'Keepers tale?

Any mink I've seen has been during the day, and they looked plenty fecking active!

Stoats probably rest up for a while during the day, but are to be seen in the early morning and late afternoon onwards. Don't know anything about weasels, they are not in Ireland.

I've seen loads of mink on the river avon during the day, after moorhen chicks etc.

I remember night fishing as well and I was open ended feeder fishing, and when I reached back behind me to fill the feeder with groundbait i grabbed hold of the biggest mink you can imagine.............Feckin' shit myself I can tell you.(only just stopped shaking and that was 7-8yrs ago). :icon_eek:
