TGEvans 4 Posted August 5, 2011 Report Share Posted August 5, 2011 Hi Guys. Have just Blued my old Lanber. I am really happy with the way the colour has turned out, and the coverage is pretty good. But.....there is some surface rust that comes through. It wipes of by hand but keeps coming back. I apply oil and it still comes through. Its just a rough gun but I love it and want to get this sorted! Any ideas? Thanks, Tim. Quote Link to post

I have read some bits online saying that it is an oxidisation problem and that there is not much I can do about it! I did use a lanolin based oil as directed by the manufacturer. Will leave it a bit longer and see what happens. But from a few feet it looks great, just under light close up shows up the brown. Probably being a bit fussy!!!! Thanks for your help, Tim. Thanks for your help, Tim. being a lanber i would have hot blacked it , but blueing is o.k , just keep lightly wiping it down with an oily rage and the rust will stop appearing , you may not have continude with enough applications as to why the rust seems bad still if you have not given enough coats you know how to do the job now john Quote Link to post
