Guest Ditch_Shitter
I have done, mate. It's just another aspect of Pest Control. It has nothing to do with Sport. 'Sport', by definition, is a bit of fun and entertainment. Pest Control? Well, self explanatory, isn't it? No one's ever called me bad for killing all the rats I possibly can, even while they're breeding. I'm yet to have anyone scold me for wiping out a nest of wasps, as they rush to nurture next seasons swarm. It's the land owners legal duty to keep rabbit numbers on his land in proportion. If you're acting as his agent to that end, you have to adopt that mind set. That's why air rifle enthusiasts will want to pop off a few rats of a night - sport. I'll leave the rifle at home and go in with poison. May never see a rat, but nor will the farmer, time I've finished. See? No fun and games for me. Just a job done. If you genuinely have to hit the rabbits sideways? Stop seeing them as quarry and start viewing them as a job. Old, young, male female. A pregnant doe means ye've taken out a load in one hit. A young one means less to worry about in the months ahead. It's not personal and doesn't reflect on you as a person or a sportsman. Regards that building nearby; What the hell has it to do with them what perfectly legal activities you're carrying out on someone elses land?! If you're breaking laws, that's a matter for the Police. If you're simply doing some work for someone else, on that persons own private property, f*ck anyone standing outside that properties boundrys, trying to dictate to you and your employer! Just use common sense and work within the law. And I believe the uk now has laws aimed at preventing people harrassing those engaged in perfectly legitimate forms of hunting, doesn't it ....? Guest gypo joe
Havent done so before but this year i have been asked to do somthing about the rabbit problem on 2 golf courses in the North East of Scotland They havent been to happy with the Pest control firm doing it for them ie turning up once a month killing 1/2 dozen bunnies and pissing off after an hour or so (only shooting them with air guns ) and they are being paid the princely sum of £1000 per year to do so. Was out on Saturday and got 33 on the ground next to one of the courses and bolted dozens of young ones . Quote Link to post
wife 1
i get asked to do rabbits on a few farms during the summer months,it is a case of pest control and i have 1 inch purse nets which i use and any small rabbits we drop on other farms that dont mind them being there but on the other hand dont mind me taking any of there, like above it is a case of pestcontrol but we do have some good sport doing it with the dogs working patches of bramble and catching a few in the process and running rabbits into the small longnets, also although i do not shoot rabbits myself i get asked by freinds who have farms to work my ferrets and they shoot whatever bolts, this way it is a case of pestcontrol and good sport for those that enjoy shooting,if the ground is not to hard it is a good fun for the lurchers as well and they can see a bit of action Quote Link to post
