BALLINLOUGH CASTLE COUNTRY FAIR

Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 July 2011

Although only entering its 3rd year, the Ballinlough Castle Country Fair in Clonmellon, Co.Westmeath is already establishing itself as one of the 'must visit' events of the Irish country sporting calendar. Renouned for our warm atmosphere and family orientated activities, this is a show not to be missed.

In addition to the main stay events including Gundog World, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Hunts, Horses & Hounds and top displays in our Main Arena, we have added a number of new attractions this year, details of which can be seen below the terrier and lurcher section.

LURCHERS, TERRIERS & WHIPPETS

Sunday 17th July has been designated as the Terrier & Lurcher Day at Ballinlough Castle. Our team at Ballinlough has brought together some terrific events for you to enter with the winners qualifying for the Champion of Champions Show at the Midland Game Fair in Shropshire this September.

Entries can be had on the day of the event. Remember too that car parking is ringside for all the terrier and lurcher events at Ballinlough Castle.

The three Best in Show dogs and the three reserve Best in Show dogs in the terrier, lurcher and whippet sections will be invited to take part in the All-Ireland Working Dog Final at Ballinlough Castle where they will be judged against the top dogs that qualified from the National Countrysports Fair at Moira.

FERRET RACING

The ferret racing proved so popular at our Moira Game Fair that we have decided to introduce it to the show in Ballinlough Castle. You can bring along your own ferret, or for those that do not own one, the organisers of this event will have a selection of ferrets with them that are more than up for the challenge.

Details of the ferret racing times will be available on our website shortly.

POULTRY EXHIBITION & SALE

Another new attraction this year will be the Poultry Exhibition and Sale. There will be a large selection of fowl on display, including rare breeds and there will also be some poultry for sale. There will be a selection of poultry rearing products and equipment available to purchase at our Poultry Exhibition village.

PET DOG SHOW

This year we have decided to introduce a new Pet Dog Show to the event on both the Saturday and Sunday. This event is being run by a dog rescue charity. There will be various cateogories within the show, including a Childrens Show, Small Dog, Medium Dog and Large Dog amongst others. Registration will be taken on the days and times of this and the showing will be available on our website shortly.
