Hi everyone, I am new to this site so please excuse me if I am starting a topic already much discussed on here , but I would like some other peoples opinions.....the last two weekends I have been to the Belvoir Hunt and The Cottesmore Hunt dog shows , the first being a qualifier. It appears the same people win everything whilst I appreciate they have some good dogs it just reminded me of crufts. The dogs who look like they really work dont appear to get picked. Also some people have a dog/bitch in every class.....they win the qualifiers then still enter the regular classes and wipe the board....how greedy is that?....A dog won yesterday who in my humble opinion had really poor rear end conformation like cow hocks! But his owner had already won lots and I wonder if some one else took that dog in the ring if it would have had the same result?..It felt like it was the owner winning not the dog. And I am aware there was some sort of dispute after with a couple of disgruntled owners. Why do some people travel hundreds of miles there and back to qualify surely they have shows nearer where they live? Or is it to limit the competition ?...these shows have certainly lost there appeal for me, and I think the judges/commitee ought to take stock and communicate about the problems that will arise if this continues...new comers,non-breeders etc will stop supporting these events as they general feeling is that its the same old , same old......winners.......the only class he couldnt enter was the child handler because he didnt have a child with him perhaps some kind soul could lend him one for 5 mins so he can win everything......and the judges who socialise with the entrants and who know them....come on...the public are not blind I have even seen a judge , judging his own dog!!! And to the child handler who let there dog jump up the judge and then you fell over well done for winning you handled that dog er er well .....but you sat and had your picnic with the judge after...ahhhhhh.We are not stupid!!!!
