mangy1983 51
Often called the butcher bird, they are a rare occurance in the UK, but several arrive here each winter. There are several sub-species of grey shrike, so i may well be incorrect saying its a great grey...but just took a wild guess... There was one even recorded on the Isle of Lewis last year so lm guessing weather does not bother them as we get some of the worst weather going cheers Callum
runforyourlife 361
wow callum, they certainly get about then. They are a real nice looking bird as well... almost cheeky looking... Normally i am photographing parrots and other exotic birds while out there but this time tryed a little harder and was quite chuffed with some of the stuff.

When the volcano from Iceland erupted we even had a Gyr Falcon on the island, it only went and followed the geese up here. Don't know if it is still here as nobody talks about it any more. Its just the first sighting people talk about, take a photo as proof and then it goes quiet. Would be amazing to see it though if it is still up here. I mean imagine watching it take a goose! cheers Callum
