daz1976 8 Posted March 16, 2011 Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 you need to do all the basics first,stay,retrieve,sit etc build up all the trust with the dog at 8 month he is still apup and doesnt need to be rushed into anything at the moment,talke him out let him see a few see how keen he is to chase i have an 8 month pup and he is real keen but still not let him although he wants to,let him see another dog work if their is one he can watch,iv only had 2 lurchers the mother to my pup and the pup i never realy had to do much work with my bitch most of it came naturally and hopefully will with the pup,good luck Quote Link to post
bradaz2009 9 Posted March 16, 2011 Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 like has been said teach it the basics sit stay recall jump stock breaking is a must and just about that age where they will chase stock if they haven't been taught otherwise and you got till end of summer to train it then end of summer get it on some half grown rabbits but it should come easily enough what kind of dog you got.
