I have two criminal convictions 1 is an affray from [bANNED TEXT] i was 14 and the other isa a section 4 public disorder thing when i was 16 I am now 18 and was wodnering how strict they are with these kind of convictions alot of people say I havnt got a chance n sum say I have. I personaly think i wouldnt but just thought id question it on hear to see wht people think .some people may think this is a joke but i have the same out of people on each side of the fence on the matter.

Firstly, did you serve any prison time for either conviction? You are only automatically disbarred if you are sentenced to a certain amount of time in prison. The ban is 5 years if you are sentenced to more than 3 months, but less than 3 years. Any sentence of over 5 years means a lifetime ban.

 

However, the police will still take the offences into account, even if they were below the sentencing threshold for automatic bans.

 

I think a lot of it will be down to the circumstances of each offence. I note they are both for violent offences, which would tend to go against you. However, it might not be enough for them to refuse to issue, as you were young when the offences occurred. If you find the number of your local FEO and ring him and have a chat, they are very helpful in general, and he will know how tight they are on those types of offence. Be totally honest with him, if you're not he WILL find out, and it will go against you! (I'm not suggesting that you're not honest, but it's easy to be tempted to leave a little bit of the story out, especially if it doesn't reflect well on you)

 

If you can prove that you have grown up, and are responsible and adult enough to handle the responsibility of owning a gun then you stand a fairly good chance.

thanks alot pal i didnt serve any prison sentences for the affray i had 20hours community service and a referal order which was to track wether i was gettin along with everything and not in trouble and the public disorder i got a weekend only 7 til 7 electronic tag and a small fine .

both happened in the same way a mate got hit by sumeone and i hit someone for it kinda stickin up for the mate but jus got stuck with the convictions because of the rising violence that had been happening in and around my town ,there was also a big clamp down on violence at the same time though.
