I have a 4 and a half month old staffy (yes I know, not the first choice for rabbit hunting lol) Im a beginner and would love to hear some tips and advice on getting her into the swing of things (what age to start training, how to get her interested and know what she should be doing ect ect)

I live in buxton mate :) I wasnt sure if it just came to the dog naturally or if they had to be trained to go for the rabbit. Im lucky enough to have allotments over the fields from me that are sometimes over run with rabbits. A friend of mine has whippets and ive also asked to go along with him and let my dog watch and hopefully learn from his dogs. Plus if/when his dog gets one I can let carly have a good smell of it :p

Get yourself a dummy and cover it with rabbit skin, and play with her with that so she gets the feel, smell etc and associates it with goodness, get her picking it up and retrieving it. Then try moving on to chucking a dead rabbit about for her, playing with it etc, again this re-enfoces the smell etc. Then as stewie says just take it to land where there should be rabbits out and about during the day above ground and let her look for them/chase them about. Take her past warrens and let her have a sniff etc. Good luck.
