Guest daisytaff
Happy New Year everybody. Can I draw on your own experiences of breeding a litter and keeping a pup back for yourself. The bitch pup is coming up to 5 months now and I'm happy with my choice (there were 12) and she's showing the attributes that I wanted but it is her relationship with her mother that I want to ask about. The pup dominates the mother in every way and I keep waiting for the mother to put her in her place but it hasn't happened yet. The mother is 3 years old and it was her first (and only) litter and did a great job altogether but will still yield to the pup over food/attention and this leads to the pup becoming more dominant and a pain in the back end. I know she's still young but will this change ? Any observations gratefully received. Quote Link to post
marko 30
i wouldnt worry to much this is quite common as the dog is still quite young and the bitch will back down for now but there will come a time were she wont and she will put the pup in her place dont try to seperate them let them get on with it this leads to a pecking order were the pup will be at the bottom.
