sean925 2
I have a whippet pup now 12 months. she is retrieving rabbits live to hand her catch rate on the lamp isnt very good she still only gets one or two slips a night as still young. if she would lift squatters she would get alot more rabbits. When slipped on a squatter the pup will run down the beam and straight over the bunny then when the bunny gets up and goes the other direction the pup will course but the rabbits are getting to cover as the fields are small.is this something I can teach the pup to lift a squatter or should it come with experience. Can't fault the pup on recall on the lamp or running the beam all ok just very frustrating when the bunny there to be lifted and she needs to see it move First running dog any advice welcome.probably a good time for her to see another dog lift squatters haven't got that luxury. The pup is mostly used for ferreting but would like her to master the lamp has never run with another dog or seen another dog run this has probably good and bad points. Take her down the beam on a slip lead to sitters mate , eventually she'll start to see 'em. Quote Link to post
