Guest JohnGalway
Evening folks, Well on Friday I found this lovely fella had taken up residence in my ladder trap I've got a couple of pics of the trap during construction here This is the ladder bit The gaps are around 5inches by 6 inches, seems to have restrained the greycrow I captured. Since those photos were taken I have roofed one side of the cage and put a wall on it as well to give some good shelter in this bad weather. Also am feeding him up well hoping he'll spread the news about comfy new digs Quote Link to post

Guest SpectateSwamp
Those Hoodies are some kind of a bird. I have video of a SPECIAL one here in Canada. Hard to say how he got here. He has caused quite a stir with the birders. Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
F*cking Reezultt, mate!!! You jammy f*kka! And, John; Aren't they actually the most Gorgeous birds? Like, I know it sounds crazy, because I despise seeing them around here and constantly mutter under my breath about wishing and meaning them ill ..... But ... somehow, the moment we have them out of circulation? It's like my maggie; I'd be gutted if anything happened to him! He's no harm to anything now and I really rather like the little chap ~ hopping about in his cage there. I suggest ye ring that one. mate. Don't s'pose ye want to end up feeding half the crows in Galway. I personally felt nothing as I brained the other two (relatives?) matey brought in for me. But, somehow, I suspect ye'll get quite a feeling for that one too Caring for and feeding a prisoner? Like I say: They're harmless and helpless, once we have the buggers contained. Quote Link to post
Guest JohnGalway
You're not wrong DS, I often find myself looking at those pics time and again, strangely enough admiring the colour. It's hard to imagine until you see one up close and alive and kicking but the black and grey are really of the most fantastic shade. Tonight while feeding him I got to see a greycrow blink, for the first time ever, odd as it may seem I never knew they did that. If only they'd leave my sheep alone I'd let them be. I've already named him Seamus, cos he looks like a Seamus. He's my responsibility now since I've taken away his freedom so I'm going to look after him as best I can, shelter, water, good grub etc. We were out culling a few bunnies tonight and stumbled quite accidentally upon a fox close in. I'd only 6's in the shotgun so I didn't shoot him and he never stood still long enough for my friend to bump him off but he was a lovely shade of red. Much deeper than I've seen them around here. Another animal I really do like in my own way. As you'll know DS some people do put out poision & mixy rabbits etc, things that'll kill slowly and painfully. I won't do that as I don't want to be causing suffering to any animals, so the least I can do is provide a quick and pain free end for our furry and feathered adversaries. SS, when did this crow arrive in Canada? We have plenty more of them here incase ye run short  It's great to see something new once in a while, not sure how I'd react now if I saw a moose strolling across the field in front of my sheep :11: FD, I'm hoping so, but they're taking their time. Caught that guy on Friday and I'm getting impatient already :11: Quote Link to post
