what type of trap

i have found two traps in a back garden they are about 600mm x 400mm x300mm they have a squire mesh tunnel on one side approx 200mm x 200mm on this is a hole approx 50mm in dia leading into a chamber the hole has galvanized plate around it but there is no trap door or swing hindge or anything to stop them climbing out has anyone seen anything like this before (i will try and post a picture later)

it may be an eel puchin.. normaly its only got one end open! try get a picture up mate and let us no?
