whin 463 Posted November 19, 2006 Report Share Posted November 19, 2006 ive used several mateirals over the years for makeing drift nets for fish, rabbit nets, fox nets ,spun nylon or staple net nylon i use , i use a metal pin on one end of the net and awooden or plastic peg on the other end al thwe best on your net makeing Quote Link to post

Searched ages for a muddy net today - It was a 4oz nylon net in olive/cowshit/sand. I'd counted them out and knew I was one down. Got it in the end. Oh, and 4 rabbits too! I really don't like the 4oz stuff as I seem to spend half the morning untangling nets. Quote Link to post
whin 463 Posted November 26, 2006 Report Share Posted November 26, 2006 get spun nylon hairy sausage they dont rot im i gave aload of hemp nets away ,to a freind , irish linen is good to if you can get it i live 500yrds from two ship chandlers the stuff i munt my gill nets with would do and pretty cheap , i dont use a sizing stick as some do free hand and agood eye for size i started at the local harbour munting salmon nets in the early eighties for pocket money and learned from then on , i made afew fox nets last week first for a while a great hobby net makeing espec for sea food and rabbits drag nets for phesis and patridges , saved me a fortune makeing my own and its good to see the dinner getting caught or makeing afew quid with your own nets etc Quote Link to post
