uno 62
if people before than ban was looking to breed a litter of dogs for vulpine pest control,im told that most dogmen would have bred from single handed animals that would have seen a few seasons work, hopefully increasing the chances of producing good working stock, whats the sort of bench mark for breeding rabbiting dogs,if there is one Edited June 14, 2010 by uno Quote Link to post
Top Lamper 2k10 169
I think every dog should at least hav a couple of years under it's belt before breeding even if there goin to be rabbiting dogs well that's my opion any way Quote Link to post
uno 62
looking on some of the forums that seem to be mainly used by rabbiters, there seems to be no hard and fast veiws other than breeding from young animals,i saw a post today askin if the genes and semen would be improved if the dog was any older, the stud im told is not even a yr old so hardly a worked whippet is it. Ideation 8,217
F*ck that, you don't really know what ANY dog is capable of unless you have seen it work a few seasons . . . . . i'd say about the 4 yr mark being the start of when you can think about breeding from it. Unless it is the absolute best you can lay your hands on - why bother? Quote Link to post
