A very good start for a new rifle.

Well after a 2 year break and selling up this chap rang me for a letter for his FLO so he could re-apply for his FAC.

He paid his deposits and the letter was sent.

His ticket arrived and he picked up his new ruger .243

Scoped it with a tasco 4x40 and we boresighted it last night after tea.

His first shot was near at 50m's so we went back to 100m's and altered his sights 3 left and 2 down.

Next 2 shots two bulls.

So we were off into stalking mode.

The pheasant drive a long thin wood with a game cover down each side was perfect roe ground and was full of trade.

Though nearing the end of the wood nothing till in the barley field I could see just ears walking along a tram line.

A buck.

We covered the dead ground in very quick order and closed in on him rapidly the corn masking him to our approach.

He then made into the hedge bottom and was browsing/fraying the thorn.

Putting up the sticks I readied my client the range about 25-30m's.

I said are you happy with a neck shot as the body is masked by the corn.

At this range yes he said.

Well thats history a perfect shot just below the atlas.

Then back out this morning among light mist and by 4.45 we had found this litle fellow with a doe a great stalk into about 110m's and a shot into his lower neck dropped him stone dead.

will post video link soon have it to upload first.

Strangely I couldn't work out why I couldn't get breezes attention but she had seen the doe that was with the buck coming back to look at us.

You can see by her in this photo how focused she is

And after smashing through the bone we strangley found the spent bullet.

A .243 winchester 100gr power point now weighing in at 46 gr.

So to sum up 3 rounds to zero and 5 shots in total producing 2 bucks.

A great end a happy client and a new friend. :clapper:
