hey up everyone. Just wondering what people are feeding there ferrets, got myself 2 kits jill and hob about a fortnight ago and thought i'd ask you lot what to give them.......

 

they are only 9 wks and ive been giving them that ferret complete by John Beloved or summet. But i also been giving them the odd bit of liver, kidneys and heart but have been told liver ect should never be given as a staple diet. :hmm:

what do you guys say?

so if i throw an whole bunnie in, remembering there's only 2 and their kits. will they eat the lot? or how long should i leave it before i take whats left out? and also when should they be fed again?

Definately feed them raw meat mate. Mine get mostly rabbit supplemented with quail, pheasant, the occasional day old chick, or just about anything I catch.

 

At this time of year you will be ok to leave a rabbit for a few days without it rotting provided it has been gutted.

 

What I do once I've defrosted a rabbit is cut bits off it to feed them seperately and leave the rest in the shed. With my 2 ferrets a rabbit usually lasts 2-3 days this way depending on its size. Your ferrets may eat more or less but you will soon know how much to give them.

cheers for all the help people they've munch a full rabbit in 3 days amd they would eat more if i gave it to them. but i think they might be getting a bit fat so im gunna calm down with there portions as i dont want them to be fatties [bANNED TEXT] i start to work em in December.

Just give them as much as they can eat mate it doesn't matter if they get a little plump they will sharp shed the weight when the winter kick's in and you start working them.. :good: .
