ive just had firearms licensing on phone as ive put in for a variation i allready got .222 and 17 hmr on there i was applying for a .223, i had a 17 hmr and sold it also a .222 and sold it and she turned around and told me i was unable to buy any more of these calibres as i did not have authorisation as i sold them is this right cos i had to reply for a .222 and she took off the 17 hmr but i still paid the fee of 26 pounds as know ive lost the 17 hmr ang gained a .223 was they still right to charge me the fee of 26 pounds ps sorry to be confusing but i dont know if im the the right or wrong any imfo would be much appreciated

im afraid they are right mate :cry: if you sell a rifle and want another of the same calibre you must apply for a variation within 7 days for it to be free otherwise yo pay the £26.thats what happened to me years ago anyway with the 243.

I'm not sure I agree with this (or it's certainly not the case in North Yorks). You must let them know you have sold/purchased within 7 days to be free, variations to clear slots (1 for 1) can then be done at any time.

It state on license,certificate. There is no garantee, you permit the calibre you sell.

If you do not inform the licence office, you wish to do 1 rifle for 1 rifle. They take off your licence, then you have to re-aply. Alway state to firearm office you wish to replace sold rifle with alternate calibre rifle or pistol.
