season and information

Recommended Posts

hi guys

just got a couple of questions ive been lurking about this site for a while looking for information

1st question when does the rabbiting season start am i right to beleive its october to january or does it depend where you stay

2nd question finding warrens ive been out and came across holes with about 3 to 4 all near to each other where a cat could fit down and some pretty small and the same kind of holes a good few metres along is this one warren or two

3rd permission do you need this to hunt rabbits on any patch of land

1) there is no rabbiting season they are classed as vermin ... some people stop hunting them when its breadin season so to keep a healthy population sp? for the end of the year ...

2) warrens tend to be near eatchother so youl find say a 5holer then a 3holer not far from eatchother ...

3) if the land is owned by anyone then YES you should get permision first ... all land is ownd there for you if you dont get permision then u are poaching ... altho road side and most open areas you can get away with it ... just watch ur back lol ...

Also in answer to 1) Ferreting in summer means endless lay ups as your ferret comes across litters of young and kills them in the nest and unless doing true pest control where land will be lost if the rabbits are not killed most ferreters stop during the summer as it can be a proper pain in the arse, feels a bit wrong and will ensure less sport come winter.
