ginge2k6 0
hi lads and lasses, got a lamp last friday and my first few trips were a bit, well, s**t really, can't get the dog to look down the lamp, he is far more interested in hunting up, could this have anything to do with my ferreting the same area, and how do you get your dog trained to the lamp. And what are the best conditions to lamp rabbits, does the wind have to be blowing gale force or just a light breeze, wet or dry etc. thanks lads Quote Link to post

Guest mucker
should really be looking for sitters mate and walking up to them. dont even slip the dog unless your sure its seen it and wants to go. and only if it has a good chance of catching it. if it loses it..lamp off... you want it straight back on the slip. it will get there but you have to keep them winning specialy when starting out. edited to add ive been out lots of times and ended the night with not one slip so the dog was never of lead, even though there was the odd game about. it can be a pisser but stick with it.
