stolen squirrels

Recommended Posts

hi all, absolutely pissed it down here all day but it eased off to drizzle at about 1:00 so i decied to get out with the airrifle for some fresh ferret food as i knew she squizzers are always about in all weathers in that wood.

anyway i got there and as soon as i walked in the wood i was met with the site of 6 squirrels playing in the leaf litter and running round tree trunks etc. but as i got away from the footpath enough to unslip the gun they spotted me and ran into a drey THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE FOOTPATH :censord: ;wallbash: but anyway i then spotted a hen pheasant laying up in some brambles about 20 yards away which i quickly dispatched with a .22 superdome to the brain and chucked it under my gunbag under a holly bush where i always keep my bag and anything i have shot.

then i spotted 2 squirrels dart up a tree about 50 yards away so i stalked up to the drey they went into and promptly put a pellet into the drey which sent one squirrel jumping out and breaking its back/neck on the ground (the pellet from when i shot the drey went into its chest anyway)

About ten mins later i spotted another one run up a tree with a beech nut in its gob so i shot that one from where i was standing, superdome going right through the top of its head splattering brains allover the tree behind it

anyway i put them under my bag with the pheasant and went up to the top horse paddock to look for some bunnies as it had stopped raining by then.

when i got to the top i saw a woman walking down the footpath into the woods with 2 lurchers and i thaught nothing of it, then when i walked down to pack up to go home my squirrels had disapeared and the pheasant had been moved :wallbash:

anyway i gave the pheasant to the owner of another permission next to the wood as i promised her one and went home rather dissapointed and annoyed.

sorry no pictures as i only had the pheasant anyway, if i still had the squirrels i would have taken a pic.

sorry its such a long write up but just thaught id share my rather damp shooting session.
