My sis has been given a PC, she has absolutely no ideas about computers and is relying on me to set her up.

How do you start up from scratch, how do you get outlook express, windows, broadband if your not connected to the net?…in fact do anything.:unsure:

Do you get sent the white box thing which plugs into your phone socket from your internet provider?

Please help, she thinks her little sister is a genious :o because I can use a PC, and I don’t want to burst her bubble just yet.

Molly, you say your sister has "been given" a pc, does this mean its one of those ones thats been made up from several others, you know the sort, to get a gooden?

Or is it a brand spanking new one, still in the box?

If its the former, you may be in for some fun and games, if you need to install the system and drivers etc, it takes a lonnnnngggggg time.

However, if its a new puter, then all the main guff should already be installed and virtually ready to go, all you will need to do is sign on the dotted line, install the modem and away you go.

Most of the programs like outlook are fairly simple to get up and running, just follow the instructions when you first use the programs.

Feck me, i should be a computer instructor

No its a second hand computer, already been used. I havent had a look to see if there is anything on yet cos the cables were missing (the one for the telephone connection and the one which looks like a kettle plug) :D
